Note on Husband: Herbert William WHITTA

Emigrated to USA 13 Jun 1893 with wife and first four children

believing America to be the "land flowing with milk and honey." I was

originally told that he and his family arrived via the St. Lawrence

Seaway; however, that waterway was not constructed for many years

following when he actually arrived. Hence, the port-of-call remains a

mystery. His plan was to make his fortune and to return to England;

however, additional children were born and he and his wife became

established in the (then) booming town of Fostoria, OH. He later was

elected Mayor of Fostoria on the Republican ticket in the fall of 1929

and served one term - 1930 to 1932. He did not run a second time

because he "lost too many friends and did not wish to lose any more."

Note on Wife: Ada Elizabeth PARROTT

At the time of her death, she was noted as Fostoria's oldest living

resident at one month shy of 98 years old.
