4. Elias Joseph² Marsh (Elias Joseph¹) was born in Paterson, NJ April 8, 1835. Elias died March 8, 1908 in Paterson, NJ, at age 72.

He married Sarah Lord McCurdy April 14, 1874 in New York, Manhattan, NY. Sarah was born October 8, 1842 in New York, Manhattan, NY. Sarah was the daughter of Robert Henry McCurdy and Gertrude Mercer Lee. Sarah died 1914 in Paterson, NJ, at age 71. When Sarah was age 32 and Elias Joseph Marsh was age 40 they became the parents of Elias Joseph Marsh 1875 in Patterson, NJ. When Sarah was age 35 and Elias Joseph Marsh was age 43 they became the parents of Robert McCurdy Marsh 1878 in Patterson, NJ. When Sarah was age 37 and Elias Joseph Marsh was age 45 they became the parents of Matilda Lucille Marsh 1880 in Paterson, NJ. When Sarah was age 39 and Elias Joseph Marsh was age 47 they became the parents of Sarah Griswald Marsh 1882 in Patterson, NJ.

Elias was employed date unknown. When Elias was age 40 and Sarah Lord McCurdy was age 32 they became the parents of Elias Joseph Marsh 1875 in Patterson, NJ. When Elias was age 43 and Sarah Lord McCurdy was age 35 they became the parents of Robert McCurdy Marsh 1878 in Patterson, NJ. When Elias was age 45 and Sarah Lord McCurdy was age 37 they became the parents of Matilda Lucille Marsh 1880 in Paterson, NJ. When Elias was age 47 and Sarah Lord McCurdy was age 39 they became the parents of Sarah Griswald Marsh 1882 in Patterson, NJ.

Elias Joseph Marsh and Sarah Lord McCurdy had the following children:

8 iii. Matilda Lucille Marsh was born in Paterson, NJ 1880. Matilda died May 1966 in Paterson, NJ, at age 85. She married Elisha Kelly Snodgrass November 9, 1905 in Paterson, NJ. Elisha was born December 25, 1878 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, WV. Elisha was the son of John Tabb Snodgrass and Laura V. Kelley. Elisha died July 31, 1918 in France, at age 39. His body was interred August 1918 in France, U.S. National Cemetary. Elisha was employed date unknown. When Elisha was age 27 and Matilda Lucille Marsh was age 26 they became the parents of John Tabb Snodgrass December 23, 1906 in Paterson, NJ. When Elisha was age 29 and Matilda Lucille Marsh was age 28 they became the parents of Robert Marsh "Pete" Snodgrass September 23, 1908 in Patterson, NJ. When Matilda was age 26 and Elisha Kelly Snodgrass was age 27 they became the parents of John Tabb Snodgrass December 23, 1906 in Paterson, NJ. When Matilda was age 28 and Elisha Kelly Snodgrass was age 29 they became the parents of Robert Marsh "Pete" Snodgrass September 23, 1908 in Patterson, NJ. Matilda Lucille Marsh was 37 when Elisha was killed. John was a boy not yet 12 at the time; and Pete his brother was 10. John and his admiring younger brother attended schools together in Patterson New Jersey and spent summers on the lakes racing a small sailboat they built together. Pete called John "Skip" (short for skipper) because according to my grandmother Matilda, dad always took the helm and Pete worked the foredeck. Matilda apparently raised John and Pete by herself. I remember her primarily as a staunch Episcopalian. Se was not often in my life growing up, but on the few occasions she came for a visit, she impressed me as a conservative, silent woman. To my knowledge she never remarried, and rarely left Patterson, NJ where she died in May 1966 at age 85. She too is a mystery.

9 iv. Sarah Griswald Marsh was born in Patterson, NJ 1882. Sarah died 1965 in NC, at age 83. She married Wade Hampton Wagner date unknown. Wade was born date unknown. When Wade was age unknown and Sarah Griswald Marsh was age unknown they became the parents of Mary Wagner date unknown. (See Wade Hampton Wagner for the continuation of this line.)
