2. Hiram² Hughes (George S.¹) was born in Kentucky 1836. Hiram died 1867 in Pike County, KY, at age 31.

He married Martha Melvina English November 26, 1864 in Pike County, IN. Martha was born December 26, 1832 in Petersburg, Pike County, IN. Martha was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Savory English and Nancy Ralston Johnson. Martha died November 6, 1889 in Pike County, IN, at age 56. Her body was interred in Pike County, IN, Williams Cemetery. When Martha was age 21 and William Edger Dean was age unknown they became the parents of John F. Dean 1854 in Pike County, KY. When Martha was age 26 and William Edger Dean was age unknown they became the parents of William Edger Dean Jr. 1859 in Pike County, IN. When Martha was age 32 and Hiram Hughes was age 28 they became the parents of Hiram Corinth "Rent" Hughes May 15, 1865 in Indiana. When Martha was age 34 and Hiram Hughes was age 30 they became the parents of Mary Ellen Hughes May 2, 1867 in Pike County, IN.

When Hiram was age 28 and Martha Melvina English was age 32 they became the parents of Hiram Corinth "Rent" Hughes May 15, 1865 in Indiana. When Hiram was age 30 and Martha Melvina English was age 34 they became the parents of Mary Ellen Hughes May 2, 1867 in Pike County, IN.

Hiram Hughes and Martha Melvina English had the following children:

+ 3 i. Hiram Corinth "Rent"³ Hughes was born May 15, 1865.

4 ii. Mary Ellen Hughes was born in Pike County, IN May 2, 1867. Mary died 1927 in Pike County, IN, at age 60. Her body was interred in Pike County, IN, Williams Cemetery. She married Cyrus "Kel" McClellan Riley date unknown. (See Cyrus "Kel" McClellan Riley for the continuation of this line.)
