He married Dora Mendelsohn date unknown. Dora was born September 28, 1888 in Buffalo, NY. Dora was the daughter of Barney M. Mendelsohn and Yetta "Henrietta" Perlstein. Dora died August 20, 1966 in Buffalo, NY, at age 77. When Dora was age 31 and Joseph Shapiro was age 36 they became the parents of Alvin O. Shapiro June 11, 1920 in Columbus, OH. When Dora was age 32 and Joseph Shapiro was age 37 they became the parents of Theodore Shapiro August 10, 1921 in Ohio.

When Joseph was age 36 and Dora Mendelsohn was age 31 they became the parents of Alvin O. Shapiro June 11, 1920 in Columbus, OH. When Joseph was age 37 and Dora Mendelsohn was age 32 they became the parents of Theodore Shapiro August 10, 1921 in Ohio.

Joseph Shapiro and Dora Mendelsohn had the following children:
